MEADOWS OPENS VISTA PARK ON CATACOMBS

Transworld Top 10 Superpipe
Introducing a new park on the upper mountain. Tucked into Catacombs, the line of tables provides some fun freestyling. The run was selected because of the ample snowpack and wind protection, which should maximize operations.

MEADOWS SUPERPIPE RECEIVES TRANSWORLD SNOWBOARD TOP 10 HONOR

Transworld Top 10 SuperpipeMeadows, with its 500-foot-long, eighteen-foot-high pipe, provides a flawless playground for blasting consecutive hits. The frame is mined into the ground to provide the earliest opening possible when the Northwest flakes start flying while sculptors Jason Stankevich and Josh King have the precision and muscle to keep it polished. This past season’s heavy snowfall also kept this giant crevasse open late, and if that’s not enough to satisfy your pipe dreams, it’s lit up at night. skihood.com

SMART STYLE

SEE THE SMARTSTYLE VIDEO\

Four main points of Smart Style

* MAKE A PLAN
o Every time you use Freestyle Terrain, make a plan for each feature you want to use.
o Your speed, approach and takeoff will directly affect your maneuver and landing.

* LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP
o Before getting into freestyle terrain observe all signage and warnings
o Scope around the jumps first not over them
o Use your first run as a warm up run and to familiarize yourself with the terrain
o Be aware that the features change constantly due to weather, usage, grooming and time of day
o Do not jump blindly and use a spotter when necessary

* EASY STYLE IT
o Know your limits and ski/ride within your ability level
o Look for small progression parks or features to begin with and work your way up
o Freestyle skills require maintaining control on the ground and in the air
o Do not attempt any features unless you have sufficient ability and experience to do so safely
o Inverted aerials increase your risk of injury and are not recommended

* RESPECT GETS RESPECT
o Respect the terrain and others
o One person on a feature at a time
o Wait your turn and call your start
o Always clear the landing area quickly
o Respect all signs and stay off closed terrain and features

Be sure you Know the Code : You're Responsibility Code provides safety tips while on the slopes. Smart Style is a terrain park specific safety program that you should check out before using terrain parks.
