Mt Hood / Hood River Area

Mt. Hood Meadows is located just 67 miles east of Portland on the east side of Mt. Hood, within a two hour drive of Portland International Airport. This section will help you find the easiest and most affordable way to get to Mt. Hood Meadows fromPortlandor fromHood River. Meadows is one of the most conveniently accessible ski resorts to a major metropolitan city in the country!

Did You Know?
Mt.Hood Meadows parking lots require ODOT Sno-Park permits, which can be purchased at the resort. These permits raise money so the Oregon Department of Transportation can plow the Sno-Parks, many in remote areas to provide wonderful back country experiences.
Most rental car services at Portland International Airport rent four wheel drive vehicles which is helpful considering the changing weather conditions on Mt. Hood.
In this past year, direct service to Portland from Germany(Lufthansa), Mexico(Mexicana) and Japan(Northwest Orient) has been established, making PDX a major international airport.

Oregon Sno-Park Permit Meadows' parking lots require a Sno-Park permit ($4 for the day or $22 for the season) which can be purchased at the resort.
You must have a valid Sno-Park permit displayed in the windshield of your vehicle if you park in designated winter recreation parking areas (Sno-Parks) between November 1 and April 30.
Sno-Parks are located in all mountain passes of the state and in most recognized ski, snowmobile, and snow play areas. (Map of Oregon Sno-Parks).
Permits are sold at all DMV offices and by permit agents in resorts, sporting goods stores, and other retail outlets. Agents are allowed to charge a service fee for each permit they sell.
Permits are transferable from vehicle to vehicle.
Sno-Park permits issued by Washington, California and Idaho are honored in Oregon and Oregon permits are honored in those states. (However, if your vehicle has Washington plates, you must have a Washington permit to park in a winter recreation area in Washington.)
The penalty for parking in a designated area without a permit may result in a fine of $30.
