Blue Square - 50% of the terrain at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski ResortFresh off of our first days on the mountain, still filled with the adventurous zeal which attracted us to this sport to begin with, we encounter Blue. Intermediate terrain can be a faithful friend, building our confidence and guiding us to new places. Blue can also humble, throwing a sharp pitch or unexpected curve in our way, reminding us that the mountain still rules. It's this unpredictable nature and surprises that hooked us.

Cruising, reliable, sometimes impulsive Blue. What's your favorite Blue run at Meadows - and why?

    My favorite blue (that I can think of off the top of my head) is Beavertail. That run has two back to back hair-pin turns that are pretty awesome, especially on an uncrowded weekday.

    I also have a favorite off of HRM and another off of Vista but can't think of their names.

    Thanks for putting Beavertail on the map! It is just one of the many playful and somewhat unpredictable runs that make skiing and riding at Meadows so much fun!     Question for the grooming team:

    On Shooting Star today there were very large ruts on the groomed runs, apparantly carvered by the machines. These things were about 3 inches wide and about the same depth. Curious as to if they were intentional and if so, what is the purpose because many people I spoke with thought they were a bit dangerous in that they could easily catch a ski. Thanks

    Meadows: The grooves are a result of the wet sticky snow conditions. The snow balls up on the tillers instead of feathering out leaving the groove. There really isn't anything that can be done about it, as going back over the groom results in more grooves. When our normal weather returns the grooves will disappear.

    My favorite blue run would have to be Chunky Swirly or possibly Nettie's Run under Shooting Star but I think I've mastered most blue runs at meadows and would like to know some of the easier black diamond runs to start out with, any suggestions?

    i agree with Tom. Beavertail is a fun little run. looking at the map, i need to check out Waterfall, as i am trying on black diamond runs for size.

    i also am a fan of the gultch. it is big and wide and it is fun to hop off the top of texas trail on to it. it makes me feel like a bad a**. texas trail is fun too. i like the view. really, i am just a big fan of meadows. none of the trails disappoint, as i can always find a way to make it work for me.

    Wee Bee Gee Bee is a fun way to get back to MHE from the top of Heather Chair. I find myself there often during those epic spring Heather / Clark laps.
