Bonus Weekends May 7 - 8 and May 14 - 15

Mt. Hood Meadows will offer bonus days for two weekends into May, May 7-8 and May 14-15. The resort plans operating three lifts – Cascade Express, Mt. Hood Express and its Buttercup beginner lift, from 9 AM – 2 PM daily (with the Ballroom Carpet also offered for beginning instruction). The lift ticket will be discounted to $49. Ski and snowboard adult lessons, children’s lessons, day care, equipment rentals, retail and demo center are scheduled, as well as two restaurants including the resort’s popular Paradise Sun Deck which comes alive with BBQ, refreshment and entertainment during the warm sunny days of spring.

May operations can be affected by weather and are subject to change so the resort advises always checking the conditions page for current conditions and operational updates.

    Thanks for a great season - Lots of snow, good times and no injuries!!

    Was hoping for a summer buzz with upcoming plans at MHMs. What great things are in store for 2011 / 12 seaons? Rumors of a high speed quad, tree thinning and world record snow!

    All the improvements made over the past couple years have been great and you can count on seeing my snowboard on your slopes in October......I live for winter and hope for an early return.

    Meadows: We'll keep you updated over the summer with our eNews letter and on our web site. The big project is the construction of the Stadium high speed quad, which is already underway.

    Just wanted to convey a quick 'Thank you!' for extending the season for 2 weeks. Yesterday was incredibly good, even though it was more like March 8th than May 8th.

    Is the public allowed to hike at MHM in the summer?

    Meadows: Here's the scope regarding hiking within the permit area:
    Hiking and riding within the permit area is allowed, but we'd like to discourage it, here's why. We’ll have a lot of construction and maintenance equipment out on the slopes, especially in areas where we’re installing the new lift. If you are up here riding, please be aware that you’re on your own. There are no patrollers or any other staff to assist you. There will be no avalanche mitigation efforts from now on, so please remember that avalanche danger and other hazards may exist throughout the permit area. Also, as the snow melts, there will be unexpected, unmarked, and invisible hazards. Make sure you have backcountry knowledge and practice backcountry safety.
    Sledding is not allowed within our permit area.

    With the lift-served season drawing to a close, can you please restate your policy on off-season hiking access, in particular to Superbowl and Wy'East? Any particular concerns about those areas this spring?

    As much as I am disappointed that the season is not continuing due to the impressive snowpack, I would still like to add my thanks to those that there were providing the daily detailed conditions updates on the website each day.
    These reports were accurate/useful and added a small yet nice personal touch to an industry that is getting more corporate each year. Thanks for taking the time write out a daily report. The little things in personal customer service are noticed and remembered. See you next year.

    Whats the story on Yellow/Stadium? I see in the webcam its being demo'd. Any details on its replacement?

    Thanks for the camera angle towards Yellow! What is the plan for the old Riblet?

    I thought the set closing date was great for your employees, but it also served for a quicker start on the Stadium HSQ, kudos.

    My question on hiking was to get some pictures of the lift installation, not for skiing.

    Is any grading going to be done for easier access to the Stadium trail pod?

    Meadows: The fixed grip Stadium lift will be repurposed - we're working with a couple of ski areas that have expressed interest in it. Grading won't be needed for accessing the Stadium trail pod. Great questions - thanks for the post!

    Meadows: We move the cameras around for different views for a variety of reasons. We understand you're excited about the new lift and will be providing more information on the project later this summer. The cams have been refocused on Stadium.

    Thank you so much! One thing I didn't think of was the delay until the snow melts so you can pour foundations, so I don't expect much action for a while. I panicked assuming the cameras would stay away from Stadium.

    Will the lift be a bullwheel loader like Vista?

    When will foundations be poured and towers installed?

    Meadows: Those are August and September time frames.
