More Lifts Scheduled for Opening Day

An early blast of winter dropped 23 inches of snow in 24 hours at Mt. Hood Meadows, prompting the resort to add more lifts and terrain to opening day. The resort has six lifts scheduled – Mt. Hood Express, Shooting Star Express, Daisy, Easy Rider, Buttercup and the Ballroom Carpet – from 9 AM – 4 PM. Resort officials are hopeful that the new Stadium Express will also run Saturday, and a launching ceremony is set for 8:30 AM.

Meadows has a current snow depth of 39 inches and snow continued to fall throughout the day. Resort officials advise staying on groomed runs, expect early season conditions and be aware of unmarked obstacles. Any changes or updates to the scheduled operations or conditions will be announced on conditions page.

Passholder services will be open by 8 AM to take pictures and issue season passes. Lift tickets will be $64 for adults, $59 for ages 65-69, $39 for juniors age 7-14 and seniors 70+. Kids 6 and under are $10.

Meadows retail outlets (Outer Limits Sports and the High Performance Center) and its equipment rental center will be open. The Schuss, Alpenstube, Fresh Tracks Deli, Vertical and Higher Grounds Coffee restaurants are also scheduled to operate. Group and private lessons for adults and kids will be offered at our Ski and Snowboard School, and Daycare will also be operating.

This marks the third consecutive season Meadows opened before Thanksgiving, with openings on November 20 last season and November 11 two seasons ago.

    At last years annual trip to My Bachelor I found out about their tiered pricing depending on how many lifts are ope; has MHM considered this? Meadows is much much smaller without the upper lifts running. It would only be fair to day ticketed guests to make $64 the regular price when Cascade and Vista aren't running.

    Meadows: The variable pricing isn't based necessarily on the number of lifts operating, it's more about the type of weather expected. Some of our best days are during powder making storms when the upper mountain is socked in. So it isn't so much about the quantity, as the quality - especially if we're able to offer Lower Heather, Jack's Woods and Private Reserve. Consider this - soon we'll launch our lift tickets online. The price for an open/close ticket will be $69. If you use it midweek you receive a $10 coupon to use in our restaurant that day. That's a great deal, whether the upper lifts are operating or not.

    Will all the same lifts be open on Sunday too?

    Meadows: Yes. We're planning to operate daily for the rest of the season. The lift schedule can vary depending on conditions and turn out for the day, as we want to operate efficiently. But with this forecast and the conditions we have we should be running the same lifts Sunday as Saturday. See you Sunday!

    Will the same runs be open on Monday??? I can't go up tomorrow and I am having skiing withdrawals.... Ahhh! I am so stoked for the season to start! Thank you Snow Gods!

    Meadows: We expect to operate daily for the rest of the season. The lift schedule can vary based on conditions and turn out. But the same runs should continue to be open, hopefully more as we get more snow.

    Meadows: Yes - we plan to operate daily for the rest of the season, weather and conditions permitting. So even though we have almost 4 feet of snow, keep the snow dances going!

    Coming up on monday! how was it today? plenty of terrain?

    Meadows: Lots open with the three high speed quads - most of Shooting Star and the bowls off of Mt. Hood Express, plus the entire south side.

    Can I use my night pass from 3PM - 4PM until night skiing is official?

    Meadows: Meadows After Dark - night operations officially kicks off Friday! The night pass is valid only on the nights we extend operations for nights (scheduled Wednesday - Sunday evenings beginning Friday), weather and conditions permitting.
