Spectacular End to a Great Season!

The weather is shaping up nicely for a spectacular end to our regularly scheduled season! Meadows daily operations ends this Sunday -with lifts scheduled from 9 AM - 4 PM and a special $59 lift day pass price offered. We're continuing to offer our 2-for-1 Learn to Ski or Snowboard special for adults; and our 2-for-1 Kidski and KidsRide package this weekend (Saturday and Sunday April 27 and 28).

7th Annual Sno-Kona Pond Skim Saturday!

With an awesome forecast for sunshine the spring skiing will be sensational this week - so plan on getting your final turns in. The 7th Annual Sno-Kona Pond Skim is this Saturday. Registration is filling up but is still available online (for ages 21 and older). There's a great prize package thanks to sponsors Kona Brewing and All About Hawaii, topped by a trip for two to Hawaii! The real winners of the event are our spectators, who get to see some of the most outrageous costumes, antics, dashes and splashes. This year's competition will be judged so a second successful skim is not necessary, which should encourage participants to go all out in their second run to impress and entertain the crowd. Here's some videos of last year's event to get you going!

Encore Weekend Offered May 4 and 5

We'll be offering one last weekend - reopening Saturday and Sunday May 4 and 5 with lifts scheduled from 9 AM - 2 PM each day. We'll have a special $49 lift pass with a reduced lift operational schedule. Get details here.

Ski to Defeat ALS a Success

To our 2013 Ski to Defeat ALS Sponsors and Underwriters -
Thank you so very much again for sponsoring and underwriting our 2013 Ski to Defeat ALS which was held at Mt. Hood Meadows on Saturday, April 13, 2013. Because of your generous support and leadership, participants, guests and volunteers were moved to donate, fundraise and spread great awareness for ALS. The collective efforts of just 350 people raised an epic $167,000, to date. For this, we are so grateful.

Honorary chairman Fred Noble at Ski to Defeat ALS at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort
Because of this success, we will continue to further our mission of supporting local families living with Lou Gehrig’s Disease, actively participating in nationwide public policy efforts, and funding top-notch international research specific to finding the cause, treatments and ultimately, a cure for this devastating disease.

We look forward to hosting this event again in 2014!

April Midweek Adjustments

We've been enjoying some awesome spring skiing conditions at Meadows here in April. And it looks like winter will be visiting us this weekend with the forecast showing snow showers Saturday and Sunday with a half-a-foot or more of fresh snow!

Beginning Monday, April 15, we'll be shifting to our new midweek operational schedule. Monday - Friday we'll operate Mt. Hood Express, Cascade Express, Heather, Buttercup and the Ballroom Carpet. We'll also have a special adult lift pass price of $59. This schedule is subject to change with weather and snow conditions, so it's wise to check our conditions page for the latest information.

This will be the last weekend for Forest Park - beginning Monday our free style offerings will be focused on the South Side parks - Rose City, the Zoo, Fireweed and Shipyard are all scheduled.

Thanks To Oscar in the Parking Lot

Hi there, I have been coming to Meadows since 1970 and absolutely love it to this day as a season pass holder, former instructor, and loyal patron.  I want you to know that your employee, Oscar went above and beyond for me when I found my tire was flat in the parking lot on Monday April 8th.

Oscar was working in the lot getting all of us parked in the usual orderly way.  He came up to me when he saw me looking at my tire.  He told my son and I to go enjoy the day and then come find him or another employee when we were ready to go so that we could be helped out.  He not only told me he was not going to just put air in my tire but flat out told me he was not going to send me down the hill without fixing the tire!  And when it came time to fix it, Oscar put a plug in it for me so I could safely head down the hill.

He deserves a pat on the back from management for being the kind of employee that Meadows should keep and even promote since he truly understands great customer service.  I just wanted you to know how much it meant to me as a very long time patron.

Best Regards,

A Parent's Story

Zeb and Austin Yaklich at Mt. Hood Meadows
There are many things you wonder as a parent. Am I raising my children right, have I instilled the right values in my child, am I truly teaching them what's important, am I keeping them close to nature and are they truly learning the right things from me as a parent?

It's often hard to gauge these questions because we are so entrenched with our day to day routines. We're so close to our children on a daily basis that it becomes difficult to recognize the mile markers but I can tell you that skiing and being on the mountain has given me a realistic glimpse into if I've been teaching my child and if he's been learning.

I've been bringing my son Austin to Mt. Hood Meadows since he was 6 years old he's now on the fringe of 16. I can sense he is truly about to become an adult; only 3 year and he's off to college. Seeing our children grow up is something we dream of but when the time comes we reflect and truly hope we've done right by them and taught them the lessons they'll need to succeed in life. As I look back and see all of the smiles in the pictures from the time he was a  little boy to now, my wife and I feel accomplished in providing him with happy memories and fun times. When I look at him taking his first turns in the the mini halfpipe at Meadows to now watching him jump off cliffs with style and carve perfect powder turns, I realize that he's been learning so much. I didn't think about it when we were on the mountain together but he was listening and watching closely. I see my own riding style in his, sometimes it's almost a reflection. Austin is a better skier then I am now and that makes me proud. I was the one with him on all those stormy days, sunny days and on the most epic of days when we'd take him out of school to go ride Mt Hood Meadow's legendary powder. It's funny how skiing or snowboarding can become a euphemism for teaching your children but parenting is truly a marathon event and they are always listening and learning.

Teaching Austin how to ski was only a small part of his life but seeing the progression with him in this sport assures me that the other lessons in life that we've been working so hard to instill in him have progressed just like his skiing has. If you really want to see your work in action, take the time to teach your son or daughter a sport like skiing or snowboarding. You'll be amazed at how much more you'll learn about your parenting then you ever dreamed.

Renew Your 2012/13 Picture Pass & Get Special "One Day Buddy Pass" With April Purchase
Current 2012/13 picture passholders (which include season passes, night and midweek passes, 10-Time Passes and the popular Meadows Club Card) will receive a free "One Day Buddy Pass" valid for an off-peak lift pass next season, when they purchase a 2013/14 season pass in April. 2013/14 Season Pass FAQ

Read the FAQ's to learn the details on purchasing your 2013-14 season pass!

• Why should I buy a 2013-14 Season Pass before April 30, 2013?

The current season pass prices are the most discounted they'll be for the 2013-14 season! The 2013-14 passes purchased by April 30, 2013, will also include any extended season into May for the 2013-14 season.

• Should I buy a new 2013-14 Season Pass or renew?

If you do not have a 2012-13 pass with your picture on it, you will want to buy a new 2013-14 Season Pass here. If you do have a 2012-13 pass with your picture on it, you can renew your pass for next season here.

• What's the difference between buying a new 2013-14 pass and renewing my current 2012-13 pass?
If you do not have a picture pass for the current 2012-13 season, then you must buy a new 2013-14 season pass. If you already have a picture pass for the current 2012-13 season and you renew your pass for next season, you get to keep the same pass, and you'll receive a free non-peak adult lift day (a $74 value based on this season's non-peak price) to give to a friend for next season!

• How do I know if I can renew my pass?
If you have a 2012-13 Season Pass, 10-Time Pass, Midweek or Midweek+ Pass, Meadows Club Card, Night Pass, 5-Time Night Pass, Spring or Spring+ Pass, Senior Pass, or a Senior with Midweek Bus Pass, then you can renew to an 2013-14 Season Pass!

• Are any of the other types of passes for the 2013-14 season currently available?

The Season Passes are the only passes available for purchase this month, for the 2013-14 season.

• I have a 2012-13 picture pass but don't have it on me. Why do I need to have it to renew?
Since you'll use that same pass for the 2013-14 season, it's important that you have it with you at the time that you renew it online. We use the Pass ID number listed on your season pass to make sure the correct pass media is re-activated. It'd be very possible to have the wrong pass activated for next season (eg. if a pass was reissued at some point during this season, if you have a pass from a prior season in hand, etc.), and we don't want you to show up to a lift next season on your first day with a pass that isn't activated, since you have the wrong pass in hand.

• Where can I buy a 2013-14 season pass?
You can buy a 2013-14 season pass online, at Passholder Services at the resort, or at our Portland Office, located at 1202 NW 17th Ave downtown Portland.

• Are the prices for the 2013-14 Season Passes going up after April?
Pricing beyond the month of April hasn't been set yet. The $499 Adult Season Pass is the best price for the 2013-14 season. Also, if you renew your 2012-13 season pass in the month of April, you get a free 1 day pass (non-peak) for next season as well, for a friend. We don't expect our season pass pricing to increase over last season's early discount pricing, though the deadline for purchasing them may be earlier this year (perhaps in September or October).

• How long can I buy a 2013-14 season pass at this special rate?
This promotion is scheduled to run through April 30th, 2013.
