Mt. Hood Express Scheduled For Tuesday

Mt. Hood Express is scheduled to operate Tuesday. The quad provides high speed service out of the base area, and accesses more advanced terrain on the front side of the mountain. Meadows lift crews have been working (feverishly) to deice Mt. Hood Express, performing storm recovery in the middle of the ongoing storm!

Speaking of the storm - it deposited 3 to 5 inches at the base area level after turning to snow late last night. But higher up on the mountain - like at the 6600 foot level - we received 16 inches of new snow. It's been snowing and blowing all day, freshening and refreshing the runs. Since the terrain Mt. Hood Express serves has yet to open, Tuesday should offer some great powder turns.

Keep in mind we have early season conditions, be aware of unmarked obstacles and other riders as runs narrow near the bottom. So now that you've been officially warned, we'll see you up here Tuesday 9 AM - 4 PM.

Also scheduled to operate Tuesday are Easy Rider, Buttercup and the Ballroom Carpet. Cascade Express is also scheduled, pending storm recovery and weather permitting. Wouldn't it be awesome if.....

Adult lift prices will be $59 Tuesday - Juniors (age 7 - 14) are $39 but remember the family deal that up to two Junior day passes can be purchased for $19 each with the purchase of an adult day pass. We'll continue to equipment rental discount of $30 for adults, $20 for juniors.

We'll post our scheduled lifts and any changes on our conditions page.

See you on the mountain!

What runs open for mt. Hood express?

Meadows: There are no closures on Mt. Hood Express so the runs it serves back down to the base area will be open (basically everything between the North Canyon and South Canyon runs, plus Easy Rider terrain. It is early season so we urge you to be aware of unmarked obstacles. There isn't much of a base below this newly fallen snow, especially on steeper runs.

Meadows: Night operations are scheduled to start next week, but we need to evaluate conditions and check the forecasts after the weekend. Hang in there - it won't be long!

Way to go. Open everything up with less than 20 inches. Way to put profit in front of common sense. I remember when Meadows would not open with less than 35 inches! "There isn't much of a base under the new snow" yeah like no base. At least your pro shop will be busy.....get your ptex ready early season schlubs!

Meadows: Hey Jason. We're able to open on this base because of the substantial amount of effort our grooming team made transporting parking lot snow to build our lift ramps and give us lower mountain coverage. While we still have early season conditions - the snowpack is deeper higher up on the mountain. This most recent storm dropped about 8 inches in the base area, but over 20 higher up on the mountain. While you may be skeptical and probably won't come up until we have more snow, others are totally enjoying it. As always, ski and ride with care and be aware of unmarked obstacles. Now come on up and have some fun!
