There is a $4,400 prize purse to be split among the open and masters division winners (based on full fields) and gift cards for the junior divisions. Helmets are required for competition.

    Sno-Kona Pond Skim

Sno-Kona Pond Skim at Mt. Hood MeadowsCOMPETITOR PHOTOS - Grant Myrdal has loaded up three galleries of photos of the event!
The 8th annual Sno-Kona Pond Skim at Mt. Hood Meadows, presented by Kona Brewing, is scheduled for Saturday, April 26th! Snowboarders and skiers, get ready to launch yourself across 100 feet of frigid water! All competitors must be 21 or over. The cost to participate is $30 per entrant, which includes a complimentary Kona beach towel and celebratory Kona brew. Ski poles are not allowed in the competition.

    Scoring
All participants will receive one attempt to cross the pond successfully. All participants who successfully skim the length of the pond during the first round qualifiers will advance to the Finals, where skimmers can receive a total of 50 points, based on three elements - whether you make it across, your costume, and style/crowd reaction. In the event of ties, the judges will deliberate and award the overall winner.

Participants can receive a maximum of 50 points, and will be judged on the following during the final round:
    • Making it across the 2nd time - 10 points
    • Costume - 20 points (scale of 1-20)
    • Style and Crowd Response - 20 points (scale of 1-20)

With this scoring system, it will be possible to win the Sno-Kona Pond Skim without making it across the pond in the Finals. Judges will be encouraged to judge costumes on craftsmanship, creativity and time spent putting the costume together. It's not a race to see who can wear the skimpiest costume or shock the crowd.

    Prizes
We'll have $500 cash for top prize, as well as prizes for 2nd and 3rd place, best costume, best splash, and more!

Online registration is closed. You can still register for the Pond Skim the morning of Saturday, April 26th, from 8-9:30 AM in the Alpenstube Restaurant.
