    Full Sail Banked Slalom

Banked Slalom at Mt. Hood MeadowsMt. Hood Meadows presents the 7th annual Full Sail Banked Slalom, sponsored by Full Sail Brewing on Saturday, April 6th! A banked slalom is a series of high banked curves - the faster a rider goes down the course, the bigger the course becomes because of the nature of the high walls of the banked turns.

Both skiers and snowboarders can participate, filling a field of 120.

    Sno-Kona Pond Skim

    Video streaming by Ustream

See the live stream of the 7th Annual Sno-Kona Pond Skim here Saturday!

Sno-Kona Pond Skim at Mt. Hood MeadowsThe 7th annual Sno-Kona Pond Skim at Mt. Hood Meadows, presented by Kona Brewing, is scheduled for Saturday, April 27th! Snowboarders and skiers, get ready to launch yourself across 90 feet of frigid water, where you can win a free trip for two to Hawaii.

All competitors must be 21 or over. Cost to participate in the Pond Skim is $30 per entrant, which includes a complimentary Kona beach towel and celebratory Kona beer. Ski poles are not allowed in the competition.

    Scoring
All participants will receive one attempt to cross the pond successfully. All participants who successfully skim the length of the pond during the first round qualifiers will advance to the Finals, where skimmers can receive a total of 50 points, based on three elements - whether you make it across, your costume, and style/crowd reaction. In the event of ties, the judges will deliberate and award the overall winner.

Participants can receive a maximum of 50 points, and will be judged on the following during the final round:
    • Making it across the 2nd time - 10 points
    • Costume - 20 points (scale of 1-20)
    • Style and Crowd Response - 20 points (scale of 1-20)

With this scoring system, it will be possible to win the Sno-Kona Pond Skim without making it across the pond in the Finals. Judges will be encouraged to judge costumes on craftsmanship, creativity and time spent putting the costume together. It's not a race to see who can wear the skimpiest costume or shock the crowd.

    Prizes
We'll have prizes for the top three places, as well as best costume, best splash, and best impression made by a woman. Let's not forget about the grand prize of a round trip vacation for two to Hawaii!

Online registration closed on Friday, April 26th at 4 PM. There will be day of registration Saturday morning, from 8-9:30 AM, in the Alpenstube Restaurant.

    Competitor Info
    Schedule:
    8 - 9:30 AM – Competitor Check-In at the Alpenstube Restaurant
10:30 AM – First run (will run in reverse order of registration)
12:30 PM – Finals, followed by awards (This is approximate. Finals will begin around 30 minutes after the first run ends.)

Please check in as early as possible tomorrow morning, and make sure to bring photo ID! The registration forms can be found here. Filling them out in advance will save time and speed up the check-in process. And remember... no ski poles! Also, visibly intoxicated competitors will not be able to participate.
