Safety Fair at Mt. Hood MeadowsThe event promotes and encourages responsible practices and etiquette designed to make skiers and snowboarders more aware of safety on the slopes. Essential to courteous and safe sharing of the mountain is the Responsibility Code – seven simple rules which if followed can provide an extra margin of safety on the slopes.

The Safety Village will be set up in the base area, with prizes, giveaways, music, booths from Wentworth Subaru, Costco, and Clif Bar, and Mighty Meadows making a guest appearance for the kids. There will also be hot cocoa in the Patrol Hut, so you can stop by to see the inside of the hut, and get your questions answered. Our avalanche dogs will also be making appearances through-out the day in the Safety Village, so bring your camera!

Activities at this year's Safety Fair also include Know the Code Games, beginner chair demonstration, LIFTSTARS education, avalanche rescue awareness, music and prizes. Come join the fun!
Responsibility Code:
1. Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.
2. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.
3. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above.
4. Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others.
5. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.
6. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
7. Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.
