ARE YOU AWARE?
The intent of this Skier/Rider Safety Education Program is to help skiers and snowboarders become more aware of slope safety, the skier/rider responsibility code, and how their actions and behavior on the slopes affect those around them.

KNOW THE CODE - IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY Mt. Hood Meadows endorses the NSAA Code of Responsibility and encourages you to “Know The Code” before you visit the mountain. Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above. Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas. Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.

MHM BOUNDARY POLICY

1. Mt. Hood Meadows has a CLOSED BOUNDARY POLICY.
2. There is no lift served access to terrain outside of the ski area boundary.
3. Skiing or Snowboarding outside of the ski area boundary will result in the loss of skiing / riding privileges and a possible fine of $500 (Hood River County Ordinance 140).
4. Any search and rescue operations initiated on your behalf will result in the loss of skiing / riding privileges and will be billed out for the total amount of the cost incurred by Mt. Hood Meadows during resuce operations. This amount will be no less than $1,000.

CLOSED AREAS

1. Never cross a rope line.
2. Skiing or riding in a closed area will result in loss of skiing / riding privileges fine of up to $500.
3. Any search and rescue operations initiated on your behalf will result in the loss of skiing / riding privileges and will be billed out for the total amount of the cost incurred by Mt. Hood Meadows during resuce operations. This amount will be no less than $1,000.
4. It is your responsibility to know what terrain is closed.
5. When in doubt - ASK!

JUMPING FROM CHAIRLIFTS IS DANGEROUS AND AGAINST THE LAW

1. You may be injured in the landing.
2. You are endangering all of the passengers on the lift with a potential de-rail
3. You may face a $500 fine under Hood River County Ordinance 140.
4. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR PASS!

SAFETY IN NUMBERS

1. Never ride alone.
2. Always have a meeting place.
3. Keep an eye on your buddy.
4. Patrol monitors family radio channell 9 code 11 (9.11)
