Fantastic February Celebration :-)

Hi Folks,

This late February storm has gotten to our senses. When the conditions get this good at Mt. Hood Meadows, it's time to celebrate. It's time for DEEP POW and DEEP DISCOUNTS! I want everyone to see just how good it can get at Mt. Hood Meadows. Our region has had the best snow in the country this year and it just keeps coming! I love this El Nino stuff ;-)

We're offering a 2-for-1 adult E-Ticket Special on February 26, 27, and 28! It must be purchased on-line. We're also offering 50% off you entire bill at the Finish Line (only) between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., no coupon necessary for this! Party on! See the home page www.skihood.com for details.

Also, HUGE SALES are going on in the Boutique, Altitude, and the High Performance Center! Think of all the coin you'll save!

...Now I know what if feels like to sell mattresses on TV! If I ever get fired from my job I'll do that for a living...

I predict 2 to 3 feet of new snow with cold tempuratures between now and the end of February,,, brewwwwhhhaaahhhaaahhhaaa! Snorkle time!

But with all this DEEP POW, I'm asking that you abide by our Pro Patrol closures. Opening times for the Private Reserve, Jack's Woods, and the Lower Canyon have experienced delays most days but the areas have been opened up and it has been awesome! Meadows 'trollers have been busting butt to give you the goods and everyone owes them a huge THANK YOU! Just give them a chance to get their work done. We experienced an extended delay one morning last week because some fool skied under the rope and we had to clear him out before we could continue using explosives -- can you believe that?

Here's Asa Mueller, our Lead Forecaster and AC tech extrordinaire. He knows more about Heather Canyon than any of the rest of us will ever know! Kind of a GQ patroller huh? Really, he's a great guy and a key man on the team.

Here's why we don't let you in the Canyon until the AC work is complete to the Pro Patrol's satisfaction:

If you're so anxious to cut under a rope, we can always look for your smashed body under the debris pile.

Some people wonder why the upper canyon needs to be controlled before the lower canyon can be opened. It's because slides like this can travel from above A-Zone all the way past the lower terminal of the Heather Lift. I remember one time the wind blast from an avalanche knocked the windows out of the lift shack at the lower terminal of the Heather Lift. That slide started up above the ski area on WyEast Face. These pictures were taken February 16, 2007. The debris piles have been mostly covered with all the new POW we've received but keep you eyes open.

So, you have fair warning for the Fantastic February Celebration, compose those emails now to reschedule meetings, call your friends and family, call the boss and ask for a vacation day (you deserve it) - this is a CRAZY deal.

See you on the slopes this week! Enjoy the Meadows POW! It doesn't get any better than this.

How's the front line staff doing this year?

Hi Folks,

We had our weekly managers meeting last Friday. After talking about how things have been going on the front line this season we decided it sure would be great to get some feedback from our loyal guests.

Please take a few moments to post a comment or two on how you think our employees are doing this year.

Are there certain departments that you think area really kicking butt? If so, why? If not, why? I'm thinking in terms of friendliness, eye contact, smiles, talking with you and thanking you. Obviously, technical skills are important also.

Have you experienced situations where the staff gave you more than what you expected?

One final question: overall, do you think the front line staff is better this year than in prior years? If so, why? If not, why?

Your input and opinions are very valuable to us and we appreciate you taking the time to give us some feedback on this. Last fall we spent a great deal of time and effort to redefine our vision, mission, goals, and actions. Since then, many good people have been working hard to follow through. We're wondering if it's working for you!

We look forward to hearing your feedback. Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Dave
