Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort will celebrate 1st Thursday at it's Portland office October 2. The resort is offering up free food, beverage samplings from brewing and wine partners, live music, a raffle to win great prizes and free learn to ski and snowboard coaching. The event also showcases resort sponsors including a Pisten Bully snowcat that those attending can see close up. The entire block between NW Northrup and Overton on 17th Street will be closed for the block party.
Resort Executive Director of Public Relations Dave Tragethon says the event truly brings the spirit of the mountain to Portland. "We have representatives from all of our departments to talk about the upcoming season. Our ski and snowboard coaches will be demonstrating techniques and we're excited about the culinary offerings our new executive chef will be serving up. It's a great way to get stoked for the season."
Executive Chef, Dave Mahler, and Mt. Hood Meadows Culinary Services will be serving up delicious Mt. Hood Cubano sandwiches and vegetarian Mushroom Banh Mi sandwiches. There will be a free raffle to win Meadows lift tickets and passes, and special season pass and learn to ski / snowboard packages will be available.
The event is scheduled from 4 - 8 PM and will raise money for Body Vox Dance Studio. Sampling partners include Laurelwood Brewing, Backwoods Brewing, Double Mountain Brewing, Backwoods Brewing Company, Full Sail Brewing and the HUB. The Meadows to People skiing and snowboarding experience is presented by Burton Snowboards, Columbia Sportswear, the Portland Winterhawks and Rossignol Skis.
