This education program is dedicated to fostering a connection between young people and the natural world and will provide the opportunity for participants to learn more about the environment on Mt Hood including volcanoes, glaciers, waterways, plants and animals. Each educational session will be highlighted by a corresponding outdoor adventure such as hiking, rafting and more.

Campers will:

  • Build a volcano and learn how different blasts affect the environment
  • Identify plants invasive to the mountain environment and learn about medicinal plants
  • Swim in a mountain lake
  • Recognize animal tracks and learn about endangered species
  • Hike to a glacier
  • Ride the whitewater from glacial runoff

Campers will use camcorders to record their activities and produce a Public Service Announcement or Commercial on how to protect Mt Hood and its resources.

This unique combination of adventure and learning will foster an appreciation for the environment, develop self-esteem, instill a spirit of adventure, and promote teamwork, friendship, and a sense of preserving our natural resources.

Camps offered to ages 7-14, and includes transportation to Mt Hood Meadows from Portland or Hood River and back each day. The five day camp is $390   July 27 – 31.
