More than 500 snow enthusiasts took advantage of an early opening of the Buttercup lift Saturday, a special preview day Meadows presented as part of the Pray for Snow Party. The preview was made possible by the enormous snow harvesting efforts Meadows has pioneered, making it possible to offer a limited experience with just ten inches of snow depth in the base area.

Mt. Hood Meadows will present anxious skiers and snowboarders the opportunity to take some runs Saturday on limited beginner terrain served by the Buttercup lift.
We thought you'd enjoy a birds-eye view of the storm at Meadows. It's been snowing hard all afternoon and there's a pulse of storms forecast this week. It's a favorable weather system, hopefully one that will build our base and let us start the season!
Weather Advisory and Outlook for Snow
The improving weather forecast and a snowy start to November has spirits running high for a pre-Thanksgiving opening at Mt. Hood Meadows. In fact, the season will be previewed with the Buttercup lift running from 3 - 7 PM Saturday adding to the festivity of our “Pray for Snow” party to celebrate the season.
Even before it started snowing you could feel the change in the air. That shiver up the spine feeling is more than cooler temperatures, it was the anticipation of seeing the first snowflakes that stick. Perhaps these are the ones we will be building a base out of for the rest of the season?
