Meadows opens for the season Friday!

  • Lifts scheduled daily 9 AM - 4 PM
  • Saturday special bonus night with lifts running 9 AM - 9 PM
  • Special Holiday Store now open

MT. HOOD, OR (Immediate Release) – Mt. Hood Meadows will begin daily operations for the 2015/16 season Friday. Meadows has received nearly a foot-and-a-half of new snow in the last 36 hours from a major powder making Northwest storm. The resort reports a 22-inch base at the 5500 foot base area level, and more than four feet at the 6200 foot level. Forecasts say the storm could drop a foot or more through the weekend.

Conditions will be powder and more powder offering enthusiasts some rare early season powder plunges and face shots, but officials remind snow enthusiasts that it is still early season and to be aware of unmarked obstacles. Roads to the ski area are snow packed and icy, requiring chains or traction tires.

Lifts scheduled Friday include the Mt. Hood Express, Vista Express, Buttercup, Easy Rider and the Ballroom Carpet. With the storm forecast to rage Friday, the upper lifts may be affected due to wind and visibility. We expect Cascade to be on weather recovery, and at this point we don't have enough snow at the bottom of Hood River Express to operate that lift. Shooting Star remains on maintenance hold as repairs are made to damage it received in a wind storm.

The lift ticket price will be $64 Friday, $39 for juniors age 7 - 14 and $49 for seniors age 65 -74. Tickets can be purchased online in advance at a discount.

The opening signals a return to regular operations, so restaurants, sport shops, demo center and rental shops will all be operating. The ski and snowboard school will offer adult and children's lessons for all levels of ability, and the state-certified daycare center is also available.

Saturday the resort will offer a special "bonus night" operating lifts from 9 AM - 9 PM. This is a special preview of night operations, which are scheduled to begin Friday, December 18.

The Nordic Center will offer cross country skiing on two trails and a practice area for beginner lessons. The track fee is $12 and rentals and lessons are available.

Meadows Parks will offer three terrain parks - Shipyard, The Zoo and newly opened Fireweed - for freestylers.

Meadows has opened a special online “Holiday Store” offering a wide assortment of gift ideas for those who enjoy playing in and on the snow. The store is categorized for Men, Women and Kids to make finding the perfect gift easy. There is also a special “Deal of the Day” offered in the store that provides even great values.
