From April 23-25, Mt. Hood Meadows hosted its first-ever SheGrooms event, a celebration of women in mountain grooming and mountain positions.

Marshall Woods, Mt. Hood Meadows Lift Maintenance Manager received the prestigious Tower of Excellence award at the recent Pacific Northwest Ski Areas Association (PNSAA) annual conference. The Tower of Excellence award recognizes and honors a ski resort employee, past or present, who has made significant contributions to the “outside operations” of their resort.

More than 1,000 skiers and snowboarders turned out Tuesday at Mt. Hood Meadows for the first annual “Provide to Ride” food collection event for FISH - the Hood River Food Bank. Meadows offered a free lift ticket for the donation of 24 cans of food or two hams. We also offered a special lift ticket for those that just wanted to donate with the proceeds going to FISH.

In the summer of 2014, Mt. Hood Meadows grooming and vehicle maintenance crews teamed up to build a high-capacity snow trailer to transport snow. They gutted a snowcat, and built the aluminum frame hydraulic bed on the chassis. No one knew then how critically important that snow hauler would become for a snow-starved 2014-15 season, and for seasons to come. The innovation is credited for being able to open terrain that season that would not have been possible with the skimpy snowpack. Snow harvesting and transporting was born.
