Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort will offer limited lift operations Saturday, with the Buttercup lift scheduled from 9 AM - 4 PM. The current storm has dropped about 4 inches of new snow, and with snow harvesting and snow making efforts the resort expects to have a pathway of snow on the Buttercup run Saturday. A Buttercup lift ticket will be $29. The Buttercup Jib Park will also offer rails for freestyling.
Pray for Snow Brew Fest 12 - 5 PM
The limited lift operation will complement the annual Winter Brew Fest, featuring about a dozen of the Northwests micros breweries, serving up around 30 brews to sample. On tap will be Widmer, Full Sail, Double Mountain, Everybody’s Brewing, Laurelwood, Hopworks, Backwoods, HR Ciderworks, and Naked Winery. Admission is $14 and includes entrance to the Brew Fest from noon - 5 PM, entertainment, glass keepsake logoed mug and 4 drink coupons. Additional drink coupons may be purchased for $1 each. Must be 21 with current valid ID in order to enter. Brew Fest takes on a Pray for Snow theme this season.
Pineapples will be tossed.
Meadows is offering frustrated skiers and snowboarders the opportunity to toss pineapples, in an effort to send the Pineapple Express weather system away from Mt. Hood. In a fundraiser for the NW Avalanche Forecast Center, $10 tosses will be offered up with prizes from DaKine, Meadows gift cards and a grand prize of custom Folsom Skis that goes to the first Pineapple tosser that lands a pineapple in the Australian bucket (or to the tosser accumulating the most points).
Live Entertainment 1 - 5 P
Keegan Smith and the Fam will perform live from 1 - 5 PM. This Portland based band is fun and energetic. Their sound spectrum ranges from blues to neo-soul, hip-hop to acoustic roots, and reggae to funk.
Culinary Services Offered
The Schuss will operate from 8:30 - 4:15, and Higher Grounds will serve up coffee drinks from 8 - 11. Vertical will be debuting it’s winter menu open for 11 - 5.
Adult and Children’s Ski School
The Children’s Learning Center will be open and both adult and children’s lessons will be offered at 10 AM and 1 PM. With Buttercup operating Learn to Ski and Snowboard classes will be offered. Day Care is also taking reservations.
Retail Shops Offering some great holiday deals
Outer Limits Sports and the High Performance Center will be open. There will be discounts of up to 60% on selected new and demo skis and snowboard equipment from last season.
The equipment rental center will be open for those needing to rent skis or snowboards.
The current weather forecast is showing snow changing to rain Saturday afternoon to evening, and then a substantial amount of moisture into Monday. Continued operations are unlikely for Sunday, based on the weather, but that decision will be announced Saturday.
