Enjoy this video of our opening day!
Mt. Hood Meadows opened for the season Monday - on an 18" snow depth in the base area thanks to a scary "Pineapple Express" storm that literally went south. Instead of deluging the resort with rain, it chilled and dropped about 10" of snow after a soaking. Meadows mountain crews rallied, hauled parking lot snow to the slopes and got two lifts running today.

A somewhat meager opening compared to seasons past, but guests were enjoying the day, saying "Better late than never." The Easy Rider lift was especially popular, with fun runs down Mitchell Creek and Fireweed. An 8 feature jib park was being sessioned and the in-ground 18' SuperPipe, though ungroomed, was open for some fun riding.

And now the big news - Vista Express was being prepped today, and we expect it to operate Wednesday, barring high winds (or fog). That will open up much longer runs for even more fun. Be aware of early season conditions, watched for unmarked obstacles and as always be in control.
Come on up for some great exercise, crisp mountain air and some of the most stunning views Oregon has to offer. Happy holiday, we're so glad to be open!
