Pineapple Toss Fundraiser for NWAC Planned

Warmer than usual weather has stymied lift operations at Meadows this early season, brought on by a Pineapple Express. In retaliation, Meadows will present a “Pineapple Toss”, a fundraising event for the Northwest Avalanche Center. Resort spokesman Dave Tragethon says, “We want to throw this Pineapple Express system as far away from Mt. Hood as possible, so we’ve created some catapults to launch pineapples Saturday. We’ll have some fun prizes for those willing to put $10 down to launch a Pineapple. The farther we can toss those pineapples the happier we will be.”

Meadows culinary services will be offering up some pineapple specialties for those who want to consume the flavorful fruit in a more traditional method, in addition to revealing the new menu for Vertical Cocina (formerly the Vertical Sports Bar and Grill). Even the announcement of the Pineapple toss seems to be affecting this week’s weather. Colder temperatures are allowing the resort to make snow and the forecast is showing accumulation several days this week. Resort officials are committed to opening lifts and terrain as soon as snow allows.
