It was a powder filled opening for Mt. Hood Meadows Friday. With a foot-and-a-half of virgin powder awaiting, on the first official day of the season, snow enthusiasts plunged into thigh deep powder pockets happily enduring the slap across the face of December powder. These photos were taken Saturday by Grant Myrdal Photography.
Mt. Hood Express and Vista Express lifting skiers and snowboarders to mid-mountain and beyond to enjoy the four to five foot snow depth. It was freshies all day as the major storm pounding the Northwest delivered continuous freshies. Saturday’s forecast is more of the same, with an even more powerful pulse forecast to bring a foot of snow to Meadows.
With a special bonus night, and lifts operating until 9 PM Saturday, the powder chasing will continue into Meadows After Dark. Nights ops are scheduled to begin Friday, December 18, so this is a special bonus night. Passholders use their passes for access - a night lift ticket from 3 - 9 PM is $32.
Meadows is open daily for the season. And with this “Super El Nino” charged storm, we will be adding more lifts and terrain as we build the snowpack.
