9th Annual Sno-Kona Pond Skim at Mt. Hood Meadows Saturday

Skier creates a big wake and crowd response at the Sno-Kona Pond Skim at Mt. Hood MeadowsMT. HOOD, OR (Immediate Release) – The Sno-Kona Pond Skim, one of the most well attended spectator-friendly events of the season, will be presented this Saturday, April 30 at Mt. Hood Meadows. A hundred costumed competitors will attempt to skim across an ice-water pond, located right in the base area, to win prizes and glory. Presented by Kona Brewing Co., the festive event brings music, costumes, a beach fashion show and plenty of Liquid Aloha to Meadows.

Just the announcement of the event is already having a chilling effect, as the forecast for the weekend has switched from record highs to colder temps with a snowy forecast on the mountain.

April Freshies and Last Hurrah for HRM

Fresh snow in April is a treat that many skiers never fully appreciate. Five inches of fresh yesterday means some great wintery conditions today. 

With warmer weather, we’re giving HRM a few days off. Hood River Express and the Hood River Meadows Skier Services Center will not be open Wednesday, Thursday or Friday this week, but they are scheduled for this weekend (Saturday and Sunday April 9 and 10). Those will be the last scheduled days of operation at HRM for the season, so hit your favorite lines while you can. We’ll see you up here soon!

Hood Meadows into an extended Spring season scheduled to go through mid-May, and have allowed the resort to return its annual Spring Park to Vista, making it one of the longest flow parks in the country.
