MT. HOOD, OR (Immediate Release) – The Sno-Kona Pond Skim, one of the most well attended spectator-friendly events of the season, will be presented this Saturday, April 30 at Mt. Hood Meadows. A hundred costumed competitors will attempt to skim across an ice-water pond, located right in the base area, to win prizes and glory. Presented by Kona Brewing Co., the festive event brings music, costumes, a beach fashion show and plenty of Liquid Aloha to Meadows.
Competitors take a qualifying run, and those who make it across advance to the finals, where they will be judged on costume (20 points), style and crowd response (20 points) and if they make it across the pond again (10 points). At stake: $500 for first place, a Kona Snowboard and two Kona beach chairs for second place and Popina Swim Boutique gift certificate for 3rd. There’s also reward recognition for the best splash, best costume and best impression made by a woman competitor.
Intermission will feature an inner tube race across the pond, followed by a fan favorite - the Popina Swimwear beach fashion show. Captain's Orders provide live music throughout the day adding to the fun vibe.

Competitor registration is $30 and includes a commemorative Sno-Kona beach towel and a celebratory Kona brew (for ages 21 and older). Competitors can be as young as 15 years of age and should register in advance.
First runs are scheduled to begin at 11 AM Saturday with the finals expected to start around 2 PM. There is no charge for spectators.
The Sno-Kona Pond Skim is presented by Kona Brewing Co., Popina Swimwear, Keen, Kind Snacks and Monster Energy.
