Since it started five years ago, the Ski to Defeat ALS event has raised more than half a million dollars to provide time-sensitive critical programs and care services free of charge for people living with ALS in Oregon and SW Washington. It has become a major fundraiser for our local ALS association and is directly supporting those who live here that have the disease, as well as their family support systems.
More than a dozen teams and hundreds of participants will converge at Meadows to take runs together while raising funds. Adaptive instructors with specialized equipment will be assisting those with the disease take some runs and join the fund raising effort. Some of this equipment was purchased and used by honorary chairmen Fred Noble, who helped start the event after he was diagnosed with the disease.
While the teams have been set for Saturday’s fundraiser, you can still support the event and the worthy efforts of the ALS Association with a donation to a team or individual.

Scenic Vista Express Chairlift Ride and Snowshoe Tour
Saturday will be an awesome day for snow shoe touring on the upper mountain. The guided tour starts at our rental shop, getting outfitted with snowshoes, and then continues with a scenic ride up the Vista Express chair. The mountain belongs to the snowshoers who enjoy a nice, leisurely hike along our southern border, enjoying unmatched vistas, overlooking White River Canyon and getting to see the vegetation up close.
