Suits 'n Boots Human Access Project Fundraiser at Meadows April 17

Categories: Guest Connection Media Center

  • The first 100 people to wear a swimsuit to the mountain will receive an all-day lift ticket for only $10!
  • Fun and daring fundraiser for the Human Access Project to connect Portlanders with their Willamette River

MT. HOOD, OR (Immediate Release) – Mt. Hood Meadows has more than 20 feet of snow at mid-mountain, the deepest in the country, but on Sunday, April 17, Meadows, Popina Swimwear and Kona Brewing will get everyone in the summer spirit with a Suits ’n Boots celebration, a fund and awareness raiser for the Human Access Project (HAP).

The first 100 people who reveal their bathing "Suits 'n Boots" will receive a $10 lift ticket that day. All proceeds will be donated to HAP which is transforming Portland’s relationship with the Willamette River by creating more public spaces, beaches and access points to the Willamette from downtown Portland.

HAP Ringleader Willie Levenson says inspiring Portlanders and visitors to connect with the Willamette River through conservation, education and stewardship is serious work; but events like Suits ’n Boots make it fun, saying, “Swim suits on the snow? Why not! Snow is just water that hasn’t melted yet. It’s an excuse to have fun with the wild child inside all of us and get an early start on your base tan. It’s unconventional and a bit daring, but a whole lot of fun and that’s what playing in and on the water (even in a frozen state) is all about!”

HAP is best known for “The Big Float” summer celebration where 3,000+ people inner-tube in downtown Portland, scheduled for July 10th, 2016.

On Suits ’n Boots day, Meadows, Popina Swimwear and Kona Brewing will launch an Instagram contest to commemorate the event. Mountain enthusiasts can post a photo of themselves in swimwear at Meadows, and tag it #popinaswim #konabrewingco #mthoodmeadows for a drawing for these fabulous prizes:

  • Women’s Columbia/Kona Snowboard pants and gloves.
  • One of 10 $50 Popina Swimwear Gift Certificates
  • VIP Admission for 2 to April 30 Pond Skim (21 and older) Includes 2 lift tickets, BBQ and 2 Drink vouchers each for Pond Skim

The photos will not be judged - as the sponsors want all participants to have fun and feel great about revealing their enthusiasm for the mountain. Appropriate sun screen protection is advised.

Suits ’n Boots also serves as a warmer-upper to the 9th Annual Sno-Kona Pond Skim at Mt. Hood Meadows April 30. Registration for the event has already begun for the popular event, where costume-clad skiers and snowboarders “skim” across 90 feet of 32 degree water for fame, glory and great prizes!
