MT. HOOD, OR (Immediate Release) - Mt. Hood Meadows will present four mountain kids camps this summer. There are two different camps one designed for kids exploring the natural world and their relationship with it, and the other presenting action adventures.
Kids Mountain camp coordinator Josey Rice says the combination of adventures and learning experiences forges friendships and a deeper respect for nature. "The camps combine a daily adventure with a learning experience. By interacting with their peers, campers also learn the importance of participating with others and building successful relationships. We support and celebrate each camper's abilities and encourage our campers to be active, proud, daring, responsible, and cooperative."
Mountain Explorer Camp
The Mountain Explorer camp explores the natural surroundings and environment of Mt. Hood fostering a connection between young people and the natural world around them. Kids will engage in hands on lessons about volcanoes, glaciers, waterways, plants and animals. Each educational session is followed by a corresponding outdoor activity such as hiking, rafting and more. This unique combination helps develop an appreciation for the environment, self-esteem, and promotes a spirit of adventure and teamwork. The 4-day Mountain Explorer Camp is designed for ages 7 - 14 and is offered July 18 - 21 and July 25 - 28. The cost is $279 (if purchased by June 15).
Mountain Adventure Camp
The Mountain Adventure Camp provides more action-oriented activities while exploring the wonders of the Columbia Gorge and Mt. Hood. Activities are led by experts with a commitment to safety and an enthusiasm for sharing outdoor adventures including mountain biking, waterfall hikes, scenic chair rides and whitewater rafting. Campers build self-confidence and develop positive attitudes by learning to succeed at many new activities. The 4-day Mountain Adventure Camp is designed for ages 10 - 14 and is offered August 1-4 and again August 8-11. The cost is $309 (if purchased by June 15).
The camps include transportation from Portland or Hood River to the mountain adventure each day.
