Thankful for an awesome opening day to our 49th season

Categories: Guest Connection Meadows Parks

We send a big Thanksgiving weekend THANK YOU to everyone who chose to #optoutside and celebrate the opening of our 49th season today. As you’ve seen our mountain crews have been working hard harvesting as much snow as possible to take to the slopes. That’s a process that will continue as the snowfall we received (and for which we are very grateful) has been well below the initially forecasted amount. So CHEERS to the snow harvesters - you made it possible for us to open!

While our base depth is not much more than a foot of natural, our guests found plenty of snow to enjoy sliding around to get their first turns of the season today. There was a lot of jibbing going on in the rail park, and we had many first timers and kids out in lessons today.
In all, we served up more than 10,000 lift rides on these three lifts - with some guests getting close to 20 runs in today! That’s awesome and we are well on our way to a great season.

Now your question is, when will we open more of the mountain - and the answer is when we get some more natural snow. Keep in mind we have barely over a foot of natural snow right now, so we need more snow to open terrain. We will continue our snow harvesting efforts and snow making (so far it hasn’t been cold enough to make snow). We are prepping lifts but we need more snow to move on terrain serviced by our high speed quads.

Keep thinking snow - and doing your snow dances and whatever other rituals you do to make it snow!
