Mt. Hood Meadows will join ski areas from across the country and Canada to set a Guinness World Record for the most people learning to ski and snowboard at one time. Friday, January 6 is the designated day where thousands of people across the country will take their first lesson at their local ski area.

Mt. Hood Meadows opened Heather Canyon today, one of the earliest openings ever for the resort’s franchise expert terrain. The lowest gates serving Jack’s Woods and Absolute Magnitude were opened Saturday, and with a considerable amount of human effort but the rest of Heather Canyon from A-Zone on down was opened today.

The conditions are superb - arguably the best they have been going into the holiday break for the past decade. With the all this new snow, and the likelihood of blue skies this weekend, we expect our parking lots will be reaching capacity Saturday and Sunday. We are taking action by encouraging more of our team to carpool and utilize the employee shuttles we provide. We encourage our guests to do the same.
