As the days grow longer and the season moves towards Spring, Mt. Hood Meadows puts on some of the most fun, competitive, spectator friendly and engaging events and activities in the Northwest. Events run the gamut, from guided snowshoe tours and ski and snowboard clinics, to fundraisers like the 29th annual Oregon Cancer Ski Out and Ski to Defeat ALS. There are competitive events like the Town Challenge Race Series and Full Sail Banked Slalom. And then there are the party events like Spring Brew Fest, Suits and Boots and the incredibly popular Sno-Kona Pond Skim. A season’s ending party on Saturday May 6 will send the season off on a high note. But don’t wait for that event when every weekend there’s some great fun and entertainment at Mt. Hood Meadows.
Instructional Clinics and Camps
It’s never too late to learn and the clinics and camps presented in the last half of the season present ideal conditions for improving both technique and enjoyment of the sport. Meadows offers a variety of adult clinics (Steeps / Women’s / Freestyle / Telemark) as well as three day Spring Holiday camps for Kids (March 25 - 27 and April 3 - 5).
Competitive and Fun Events
The Meadows Town Challenge Race Series will be presented in March with two Friday evening races (March 10 and 17) and a Saturday finale (March 25). Full Sail Banked Slalom will run Saturday April 1, a fun yet challenging course that is planned for Meadows’ “tunnel of love” a natural gully that works well for the banked slalom course. If you prefer a less structured course the Double Mountain Mazotfest (April 8) is more about fun as competitors challenge each other to take on a timed course with some freestyle diversion or variation, ending at the Mazot (Meadows mid-mountain food hut).
Plans are being made to resurrect Meadows “Vegetate” freestyle event on April 22, in conjunction with Earth Day celebrations. “Revegetate” is being planned as a timed course weaving through zones of freestyle features that competitors are judged on. The course allows competitors the individual freedom to express their freestyle abilities.
"Fun"raisers with a Cause
The 29th annual Oregon Cancer Ski Out will be presented March 12 and 13 to raise funds, provide hope and enable healing in the fight against cancer. Teams or individuals can participate in this two day fun race that funds local Oregon cancer organizations. Ski to Defeat ALS hits the slopes on April 8 when people living with ALS, family members, friends, skiers, snowboarders and snowshoers come together to raise significant funds to support comprehensive local care services and top-notch international cutting-edge research.
It’s a Party
Spring is officially kicked off and celebrated during the Spring Brew Fest March 25 on the south lodge deck. Suits and Boots is a celebration of sunshine on April 15, where the first 100 guests to wear a swim suit and their boots receive a $10 lift ticket (proceeds donated to the Human Access Project). The biggest event on the mountain will be presented April 29 - the 10th Annual Sno-Kona Pond Skim where intrepid skiers and snowboarders attempt to skim across the frigid water of our 100 foot base area pond. The Double Mountain Season Ending Party will wrap up an awesome season on Saturday, May 6.
