With 111 “skimmers” registered and a record number of spectators, the 10th Annual Sno-Kona Pond Skim was epic! This year’s costumes ranged from simply swimwear to dinosaurs to the Beetlejuice family! Costume creativity, overall impression and crowd enthusiasm were well represented on the podium.

Mt. Hood Meadows has partnered with the Mt. Hood Express transportation service to provide free shuttling to the ski area from Sandy, Oregon Saturday, to celebrate Earth Day. The shuttle will run on a continuous schedule between Sandy and Meadows, and shuttle passengers will be rewarded with Meadows’ water bottles, KIND bars and a raffle entry. Those car pooling on Earth Day (with four or more people in the vehicle) will also receive water bottles and KIND bars and entry into the raffle featuring the ultimate carpool package: Oakley goggles (2 pairs), Yakima roof box, Salomon snowboard and DaKine backpack (2 packs).

It has been an incredible year for filming at Mt. Hood Meadows this season, and the entries to the 8th annual Meadows Film Festival, presented by GoPro, Full Sail Brewing and Dakine were amazing. This year there was much more powder riding with less emphasis on park riding, which should be expected in a season that has dropped 44 feet of snow making for one of the best powder seasons ever.
