1.27.18 - Update: Hood River Express will begin early loading in February. February weekends and President's Holiday Monday Hood River Express is scheduled to being operations at 8:30 AM.
12.30.17 - Update: Hood River Express will not be available for early loading Saturday, December 30. It is scheduled to operate from 9 AM - 4 PM but may only be used for uphill transport from the HRM parking lot.
12.29.17 - Update: Hood River Express will not open early Friday, December 29. It is not scheduled to operate unless uphill transport is needed from the HRM lot. The current rain requires a rebuilding of the thin base at the bottom of HRM - which we expect to be able to do with the snow forecast later Friday. Hopefully HRM will be ready to go for an early opening Saturday, but check our conditions page for status updates.
Early ups on the Hood River Express will start Tuesday - the day after Christmas. The current storm - an early Christmas gift that dropped over a foot of snow the last few days - has given us enough of a base to open some limited terrain to Hood River Meadows. There is one groomed run back to Hood River Meadows, on a shallow snowpack. But that allows those parking at HRM to ride the lift and ski back to the car at the end of the day.
Starting Tuesday we will begin the early ups on Hood River Express. That lift will run exclusively from 8:30 - 9:00 AM, allowing early arrivers to the HRM lot the chance to get some warm up runs on HRM terrain, or get first in line when the ropes drop at 9 AM to Shooting Star. This early opening of HRM is scheduled from Tuesday through the rest of the Christmas holiday (through January 1) and then weekends in January and February plus the Martin Luther King and President’s Monday holidays.
The remodeled HRM lodge will be open, with an expanded menu and more than double the seating. More points of sale have been added for those purchasing tickets. HRM doesn’t have equipment rentals or ski school - so if you need those services you should park in our upper lots, or take the shuttle from HRM to the main lodge.
Just a reminder that Sunday is Christmas Eve and lifts are scheduled from 9 AM - 4 PM. Then the rest of the holiday through January 1 we’ll be open 9 AM - 9 PM with extended hours until midnight on New Year’s Eve!
