The 11th Annual Sno-Kona Pond Skim at Mt. Hood Meadows was won by Tanya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan. Well Scott Fuson and Robert Palmer dressed as the ice skaters - in her first run Nancy (Palmer) skimmed across the pond without any problems, until Tanya (Fuson) hit her in the knee with a lead pipe. Nancy used crutches in the finals to make it across the pond, but Tanya following close behind beat her with a pipe that turned into a brawl. Oregon’s finest!
Kirsten Rowley’s “Atomic Blonde” took second place (winning an inflatable Kona paddle board) and long-time pond skimmer Bruce Kooper’s Viking took third.
The best costume went to Jared Block who dressed up like an original blue chair to celebrate Meadows’ 50th anniversary season. Taylor Bacci dressed in red white and blue and carrying a flare won a $200 Popina gift card for best impression made by a female, and the best splash went to Mike Fullman who intentionally face planted dressed as a penguin diving for fish.
It was another awesome day on the mountain - the deck stadium was packed. The aquatics Olympics and Popina swimwear fashion show made the perfect half time show between the qualifying and final skims. More than 100 people registered for the Sno-Kona Pond Skim.
