Friday 11/30 Update:
Mt. Hood Express, Shooting Star Express, Daisy, Buttercup, Easy Rider and the Carpet all opened at 9 this morning. Vista is on standby for terrain preparation and storm in progress. It's great to have new snow on opening day! Meadows lifts are scheduled daily now for the season!
Mt. Hood Meadows will be open for daily operations starting tomorrow (Friday, November 30.) The resort received a half-a-foot of snow in the base area the last 48 hours, with a settled depth in the base area of 18 inches - 30 inches at mid-mountain. The base area snow depth has been supplemented by Meadows’ innovative snow harvesting efforts, allowing the resort to operate additional lifts and open terrain.
Up to five lifts are scheduled to operate Friday, including two high speed quads - Mt. Hood Express and Shooting Star Express. C.O.O. Jake Bolland is proud of the team’s efforts to open, considering the late arriving snow storms this season, saying, “We are building this season on the thirty inches of snow we’ve received since Thanksgiving, and I’m impressed with the product our mountain crew has been able to provide. Using snow harvesting to run the lower lifts allows access for snow enthusiasts to reach the upper mountain where there is more snow depth. To be able to open Shooting Star terrain on a foot-and-a-half of natural base depth is a stellar achievement.” Bolland warns that it is a shallow, early season snowpack and advises skiers and snowboarders to stay on groomed runs and be aware of unmarked obstacles. Meadows plans to operate daily as long as conditions allow.
Buttercup, Easy Rider, Daisy, the Carpet and Mt. Hood Express are scheduled to operate from 9 AM - 4 PM, with a delayed opening expected for Shooting Star to allow for terrain preparation. There is more snow forecast through Sunday, so there could be some early season freshies for those hitting the slopes this weekend. Lift tickets are dynamically priced (the earlier you purchase the better the price) and available for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
