- Limited lift operations 11 AM - 4 PM Saturday and 9 AM - 4 PM Sunday
With eleven inches of snow in the past 24 hours, and a forecast promising up to a foot more, Mt. Hood Meadows will operate lifts this holiday weekend. Saturday’s hours are from 11 AM - 4 PM with at least the Buttercup beginner lift and the Ballroom Carpet conveyer operating. Additional lifts will be added as snow and mountain preparation allow. Sunday lifts are scheduled from 9 AM - 4 PM.
Meadows V.P. of Sales and Marketing Dave Tragethon gives thanks to the snow storm and the efforts of the Meadows snow harvesting team for the preview weekend, acknowledging, “We need natural snow in order to harvest it from the parking lot to supplement the base area snowpack. Our team has perfected snow harvesting - to be able to operate even on a limited basis with a foot of natural snow in the base area was impossible more than a few seasons ago. And with the forecast for more snow, we’re excited about the potential to open up more lifts this weekend than just Buttercup and the Ballroom Carpet.”
Lift tickets for the weekend are on sale at the resort website SkiHood.com/Tickets. Saturday’s prices are $39 for adults; $29 for ages 15 - 24 and 65 - 74; $19 for ages 7 - 14 and $12 for ages 6 and under. Sunday’s prices will start at those rates, but will increase as more tickets are purchased so those purchasing early in advance will receive the best price.

Tragethon cautions skiers and snowboarders should stay on groomed runs as early season conditions will be encountered and there are unmarked hazards. “Our mountain crews will do their best to provide a good early season experience which should be fun to get some November turns in, but everyone needs to be aware that this is limited terrain. Twenty-four hours ago there was no snow, so we are building the base as we go. It will still be fun and it beats seating around on the couch,” Tragethon clarifies.
The Mountain Learning Center will offer adult and children ski and snowboard lessons and Day Care, and the Rossignol rental center will rent equipment. The Alpenstube, Higher Grounds and Schuss restaurants will all be open as will Outer Limits Sports and High Performance Center retail shops.
