All-Mountain Cleanup Set for September 21

Categories: Guest Connection Meadows Cares Media Center

Litter collectors assemble at Mt. Hood Meadows for a cleanup day.(Mt. Hood, OR) -- Mt. Hood ski areas have partnered with SOLVe for an All-Mountain cleanup event Saturday, September 21. This is the first ever collaboration of its kind, involving Mt. Hood Meadows, Timberline Lodge, The Village of Government Camp, Summit Ski Area, and Mt. Hood SkiBowl.

Each ski area has its own cleanup efforts including trail crew, mountain ops and staff members policing different parts of their respective permit areas. Meadows had a SOLV event earlier in the season, but now in late summer there are areas that can use a good combing since the snow that covered litter has melted.

Volunteers will meet at Summit Ski Area at 9 AM and fuel up on coffee from Mt. Hood Coffee Roasters, snacks from New Seasons, and donuts from Voodoo Donuts, all sponsors of the All-Mountain cleanup event. Those coming to Meadows can carpool through GetThereOregon.org, or just drive over. Meadows will have greeters to coordinate the cleanup efforts.

After the the pick up detail, volunteers can head back to Government Camp and meet up at Summit Ski Area around 1 PM for a massive group photo and an after party provided by 10 Barrel Brewing at the Ratskellar in Government Camp.

Volunteers are advised to bring a refillable water bottle and coffee mug and wear sturdy boots and work gloves since they will be on varied terrain. Dress in layers for the weather and bring your smiles and good vibes.

To register for the All-Mountain cleanup visit SOLVe.org.

Mt. Hood Meadows has received numerous sustainability awards including being among the top Green companies to work for in Oregon for nearly a decade.
