Freeride Team signups are now closed for the 2020-21 season. If you’re thinking about joining the team next season or want to take a Freeride Camp, please check out the Spring Freeride Camps.
The Meadows Freeride Team is a multi-week program that consists of high level coaching for skiers and snowboarders who seek to explore difficult and varied terrain. The program is available to kids ages 7 through High School who are able to fluidly link turns on black groomed terrain. All Freeride Team participants must be open to learning new techniques and exploring different terrain all over the mountain, this includes steeps, powder, trees, terrain parks, half pipe, and other variable conditions. As a member of the Meadows Freeride Team you get to choose the length of your season; coaching sessions this season consist of an 8 day, 12 day and 24 day options with the additional option to add up to four 3-Day Freeride Camps that are held during Winter Break and Spring Break.
Reservations are required 48 hours prior to the first day of the Freeride Team.
Each day consists of five hours of skiing/snowboarding with an hour break for lunch. We recommend all Freeride Team athletes are booted up and ready to go by 8:30 AM - the Freeride Team Room will be available to team members each weekend to assist with this process. Coaches and athletes will meet outside of the North Lodge in the Freeride Team corral at 8:40 AM to form groups and will depart promptly at 8:50 AM for first chair. Please contact the Freeride Team coaches if you are going to be late.
Out of an abundance of caution there will be no supervised lunch at this time. Coaches will return all athletes to the Freeride Team Corral and release them for lunch. An area in the North Lodge, formerly the SnoBlasters Room, will be reserved for athletes and parents use. Athletes will meet their coaches back in the Freeride Team Corral after the lunch break.
Ready to compete? Meadows Freeride Team members who are ready to invest the time and effort to excel in competition have the option to do so. Our Freeride coaches are ready to help all team members reach their goals, whether those goals are to compete in USASA events or strive for a personal best outside of competition. Those who plan to participate in competitions this season should opt for as many coaching days as they can when signing up for the Freeride Team, this would include purchasing add-on three day Freeride Camps, to start and end the season.
Skiers and snowboarders who choose to focus on competition must be comfortable skiing and snowboarding on most black terrain at Mt. Hood Meadows. The team will compete locally on Mt. Hood and there may be extra fees for some competitions.
Participation in the Meadows Freeride Team or Freeride Camps does require the purchase of an All-Access Season Pass or a daily All-Mountain Lift Ticket.
