Meadows is like a small town, and there are many diverse elements that go together to create our town. We employ over 1,000 people at the peak of the season and those people work in a wide variety of positions in many different areas including Food and Beverage, Lift Operations, Rentals, Retail and many more. 

The jobs at the resort can be broken down into two broad categories: indoor and outdoor. Within those categories there are many different types of jobs requiring varying skill sets and levels of knowledge. Some positions require certifications and/or special training, while others may be suitable for people just entering the workforce for the first time. While the availability of any given position changes as the season progresses, there are often several jobs available either in one of our lodges or outdoors working with Mother Nature.

One of the most important things to consider in choosing a job to pursue is whether you are more suited to indoor or outdoor work. When you start browsing our available positions, each will have a detailed job description attached letting you know the requirements for the position, as well as some of the details of the job duties. Please review this information carefully, as this will be the best way to help you find the right position to suit your skills and qualifications.

Q: Are positions available that are not listed on the Meadows website?
A: Yes and no. All open positions will be posted as they become available. Please keep an eye on the Current Openings page, as the number and type of jobs available can change daily, particularly in the pre and early season.

Q: Is it possible to apply for a position before it is posted on the website in order to improve my chances of getting the job?
A: No. Once a job is posted, the application process will be opened and applications will be reviewed in the order received.

Q: In order to improve my chances of getting a job for the season, should I apply to as many positions as possible?
A: Review the job descriptions and apply to jobs you feel qualified for and are interested in. There is no limit to how many you can apply to. If you have questions about a specific job, please contact human resources at jobs@skihood.com.

Q: How many positions are typically available at the beginning of the season?
A:

This varies greatly from year-to-year, but we expect there to be a good assortment of jobs available for the 2016-2017 season. Maybe one's right for you?


Q: If I get a job with Meadows, when can I expect to start work?
A: We conduct Employee Orientation and Training in early November and the season normally begins in late November. The start dates vary greatly due to factors such as weather, business levels and the type of position in question. More information will be available from individual departments.

Q: Does Meadows provide Employee Housing?
A: Mt. Hood Meadows does not provide employee housing however, we do have a program called Turns for Tenants that connects local homeowners with employees seeking housing. If you are hired, you will be able to view a list of current rentals available through this program. Many employees also have luck finding area rentals through Craigslist, www.gorge.net Classifieds and the Hood River News.

Q: Does Meadows provide Employee Transportation to and from the mountain?
A: Meadows provides daily transportation from Hood River throughout the season, as well as service on a limited schedule from Sandy. Transportation is available for those working both the day and night shifts. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, the bus is strictly for the use of those employees traveling to and from their shift and is not for use on days off. If you do not intend to use our employee transportation, we very highly recommend arranging a carpool with your coworkers. This is an easy way to save money, add convenience and reduce congestion and pollution!

Tips to Help You Land the Job You Want
On your application:
  • Neatness counts! Please take some time to make sure that your application is clear and concise and do your best to communicate clearly. The application is our first contact with you and is your first chance to stand out!
  • Be complete! Make sure to include all pertinent information on your application and, where appropriate, don't be afraid to include additional information that you feel we should know about. Again, this is our first chance to get to know you - please tell us about yourself!

At your interview:
  • Have fun and relax! Your experience interviewing with Mt. Hood Meadows should be a fun one. Remember, this is a ski and snowboard resort! We're here to have fun!
  • Learn about the position. Study the job description ahead of time to gain a thorough understanding of the position you are applying for, and think about any questions you may have beforehand. Knowing the details of the position will show genuine interest in working in that department.
  • Check your appearance! Although Meadows is a winter resort and you will rarely see staff dressed formally, we always recommend that you dress for success when coming in for an interview. Presenting yourself in a neat, clean manner shows that you are taking the interview seriously and plan to take the job seriously. This also shows respect for the hiring Manager and helps earn his or her respect for you - something that always improves your chances!
  • Show enthusiasm. We want to hire people who are excited to come to work everyday. Even though you may feel nervous, remain calm and show confidence through a firm handshake, consistent eye contact, and by speaking distinctly.
  • Listen. One of the most neglected interviewing skills is listening. Make sure that you are not only listening, but also preparing to respond to what you have heard.
  • Ask questions. Many interviewees don't ask questions and miss the opportunity to uncover valuable information. Your questions show your interest in the job and the department. Don't be afraid to ask!
  • Answer the question asked. Candidates often don't think about whether or not they are actually answering the questions asked by their interviewers. Make sure you understand what is being asked, and feel comfortable asking the interviewer to clarify if you are not sure what they are asking.
  • Give specific examples. One specific example of your background is worth 50 vague stories. When answering questions, give examples from your past that highlight your successes and uniqueness.
  • Have fun and relax! We already said this, but it's true. Come well prepared and well presented, and enjoy your experience interviewing with our team. We're seeking people who want to work hard and also who love to play hard and have a good time. That experience starts with your application and your interview.
