LOCAL AREA & HOUSING
We breathe rare oxygen here on Mt. Hood. This is a sacred place. Take time for yourself, speak up for what you need to be well, feel healthy, have fun and be enriched. Speaking of sacred, we are on special land, from the tribes who lived here, to our current Special Use Permit from the USFS that allows us to conduct a business on public land. We have a moral and legal obligation to be good stewards. Many on our team have developed a deep and abiding passion for the snow. Consider getting out to enjoy it. However, it’s not a requirement to ski or ride to work here! Passion can take many forms: for the mountains, for serving others, for being a part of a team, for the skills you are learning or haven’t learned yet. Passion can be cultivated from following your interests.
We recognize that finding local seasonal housing can be challenging. Below are some housing resources to help you in your search. More resources will be made available upon job acceptance via our internal team site.
INTERNAL HOUSING RESOURCES
The Turns for Tenants (T4T) Program
The T4T program incentivizes landlords/homeowners to list their available rental units to Mt Hood Meadows and Cooper Spur Team members. Once candidates commit to a job here, they can request an internal list of T4T landlords seeking tenants. This list is typically made available to new hires and returning team members in October.
Team Member Housing
This is affordable housing available to qualifying team members. Please note that space is extremely limited. Contact your manager if you're interested in employee housing after you have accepted a full-time position.
Team Housing Resident Assistant (RA) Program
This is a part-time, paid secondary work assignment available only to full-time team members. In addition to an hourly wage, RAs will receive rent at a reduced rate within team member housing. Aside from conflict management and providing resources to their fellow occupants, their main task will be to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the units in which they oversee.
EXTERNAL HOUSING RESOURCES
- Head to the U.S. Forest Service website for information about dispersed camping on Mt. Hood National Forest land, rules and regulations around camping limits and rules
- Visit Oregon.gov for general housing assistance, affordable housing list, and renter resources
- Nch’i Wana Housing – Housing assistance services for the Native American communities in the Gorge
Meadows provides regularly scheduled employee transportation from Hood River, Parkdale, Sandy, Welches, Rhododendron & Government Camp throughout the operations season. While the bus schedule doesn't work for all shifts and departments, it works for most. There is no bus transportation for Cooper Spur at this time.
Criteria to consider when finding a job to apply for:
#1: Availability - Meadows hires for seasonal, part-time, full-time, and occasionally year-round positions. New positions are updated throughout the year on our Current Openings page. Most of our positions require a commitment to weekend and holiday work during the winter ski and snowboarding season.
#2: Type of Job - It can be overwhelming to know where to start if you're open to any job. Start with the question, "Do I want to work indoors or outdoors?" If you would like to learn more about our many opportunities and departments, we invite you to explore our Current Openings page.
How does the selection process work?
You will need to submit an online application. Once you have submitted an application and you meet the minimum qualifications for the job that you have applied for, the hiring supervisor, manager or recruiter will contact you for next steps. If you're unsure of where you would be the best fit on our team, or you do not see a position listed that you are interested in, submit a General Application, and a representative from the Human Resources staff will get in contact with you.
Need assistance with the application? Email Human Resources at firstname.lastname@example.org
