Trailblazers: Learning and Structured Independence
6th through 8th Grade
The safety of our team and guests is our highest priority at Mt. Hood Meadows. Please be advised that due to the continually evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, some program elements may need to be adapted in accordance with the latest guidance from public health officials and agencies.
Trailblazers starts the weekend of January 8-9.
The Trailblazers program is the perfect transition for middle school-aged skiers and snowboarders who are becoming more independent, needing less supervision than the SnoBlasters, but who still want to improve their skiing or riding in a fun atmosphere.
Half day (2-hour) or full day (4-hour) lesson options are available for all levels, whether it’s someone learning for the first time, or an experienced skier or snowboarder wanting to improve their all-mountain riding. These 4-week sessions on Saturdays and Sundays in January and February provide the opportunity for students to ski or snowboard with the same instructor and group once a week for four weeks in a row; this format allows the instructor and students to build on the previous week each time they meet and provides an excellent environment for both skill development and fun with new friends. This is a popular program, so sign up in advance for best pricing and availability.
First Time, Novice and Green level lessons meet in the mornings. Green-Blue, Blue and Black level lessons meet in the afternoons.
Daily equipment rentals are ready in the morning before the lifts open. Boots and helmets can be picked up from the MLC Programs Room, located on the Main Floor of the South Lodge. Skis and snowboards can be picked up out on the snow at the Trailblazer lesson meeting area. Please return all gear to the MLC Programs Room at the end of the day.
Reservations are required 48 hours prior to the first day of each Trailblazers session.
Find a Bus! There are many Trailblazer buses departing from neighborhoods for these sessions.
